Band postpones North American tour as Stevie Nicks fights the flu

Jazz Fest has had its fill of controversy following the cancellation of May 2 headliners, and largest draw in decades, rock legends The Rolling Stones due to frontman Mick Jagger needing heart surgery. Fleetwood Mac was available and willing to fill that void confirming a few days ago that would lend their prestige to the 50th Anniversary celebration in the Crescent City, with all the hype surrounding these miraculous turn of events it seemed the day was saved.

However, sadly this would not last as today officials with Jazz Fest released a statement today announcing the groups withdrawal due to illness for singer Stevie Nicks.

Fleetwood Mac has recently had to postpone two shows due to Nicks being sick and that the remaining four shows on the tour would be rescheduled as she recovers.

According to reports, a representative for the band said in a statement:

As an update to previous Fleetwood Mac posts regarding a band member illness, Stevie Nicks has the flu. While she is feeling better already, management has consulted with her doctors and have decided to reschedule the remaining four shows of their North American tour to allow for her full recovery…

Mick Fleetwood also released a statement apologizing to fans and vowing to reschedule those remaining dates on the tour, this however still leaves Jazz Fest holding the short of the stick with May 2nd right around the corner many question what will happen now.

Athens, Georgia band, Widespread Panic, has answered that call and will now be the headliners for the day. Veterans to Jazz Fest, having performed a double show in 1999 as they will this time, have made several appearances.
